Busby AFC v Cantera (Regional Cup)

Busby A were put out of the West Regional Cup in disappointing style against Cantera FC. With a long time having passed since the last competitive fixture Busby had some rustiness to shake off and Cantera were well up for the game. It was Busby that took the lead early on with a great solo effort by Daniel Burns. Two goals from the away team then followed putting Busby a goal down at the break. On the restart Busby looked brighter and twice came from a goal down to draw level, with goals from Daniel and Ross Docherty. With time running out neither team could find the winning goal and as per the cup rules, the game went straight to the lottery of penalties. Busby failed to convert the first three spot kicks which meant even with a save from the Busby keeper, Cantera had the advantage and were able to slot away one more penalty to win the tie.
